We all know that exercise is good for us. We also know that middle schoolers love to play. We cannot underestimate the value of athletics in our middle schoolers’ education. Studies have shown that short breaks for physical activity increase academic performance. However, not just short bursts of physical activity are beneficial; other studies have shown that middle schoolers benefit from being involved in sports year-round. When students are involved in a sport, it does not just benefit them physically, but also socially and academically.

Sports provide an opportunity for students to develop resilience. Competition is a way for students to measure their progress, celebrate personal success, and the success of others, and set goals for improvement. Competitive sports also provide an opportunity to show honor and Christ-likeness to opponents.
This year, our athletic department has provided our students with the opportunity to play volleyball, basketball, and soccer. Our students have worked hard and have committed to growing in their sport.
For more information on our sports program, please email the athletic director, Mario Noviello, at athletics@klaschool.org.
