Last month, we talked about the place of marvelous camaraderie in the middle schooler’s life. In February, our 7th graders had the opportunity to take a three-day trip to Tybee Island. This trip is often the highlight of the seventh-grade year. It strengthens class camaraderie and unity and allows the students to see real-world examples of what they have been learning in the Life Science classroom.
Experiential learning strengthens creativity, which is an integral part of our mission. It exposes the students to new places and ideas, brings the textbook learning to life in real and practical ways, and allows students to connect with interests and passions that they may not otherwise know.

Field trips are an excellent way for students to have more varied experiential learning opportunities. The proceeds from our upcoming Arts Explosion will be put towards purchasing 2 -12 passenger vans to take our students on more field trips and provide them with more experiential learning opportunities to let the creativity flow.
